ANNOUNCEMENTS
All Adults in the congregation are invited to a Sunday school hour today in the sanctuary to hear “What I am telling the Youth of our church about sexuality” by Lynn Miller.

"Power of Enough," a financial stewardship seminar, will be offered tonight at 7 PM.  Lynn A. Miller, stewardship theologian for Mennonite Mutual Aid, will help participants through the anxiety of financial planning in an increasingly shaky financial environment. All area Mennonite Churches are invited to this meeting. Lynn Miller is a graduate of Wilmington (Ohio) College and Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary, Elkhart, IN.

Bob and Mag will be leaving today for some vacation time. They will be back in the office Wed. May 14th. Please direct all pastoral concerns to Karla or one of the elders (Earl Gingerich, Lynn Gingerich, Tim Krabill, Julia Lehman, Kathy Ropp, and Donna Wiebe).

The Stewardship Commission is again inviting the congregation to practice the spiritual discipline of committing ourselves to supporting next year’s spending plan (2008-2009). A letter and pledge card has been placed in everyone’s mailbox today. Please prayerfully consider how the Spirit may be inviting you to support our congregation’s ministries in the coming year. We will have a special offering on Sunday May 18th to receive our pledge cards of commitment to the spending plan. This process in voluntary and anonymous but is helpful to the Stewardship Commission in assessing the congregation’s commitment to our church’s mission.

Two resolutions that are being brought to Central Plains Mennonite Conference in June (drafted by the Freeman Network for Justice and Peace – Freeman, SD) are being circulated throughout conference to collect support.  The resolutions call for an end to the war in Iraq and Colombia. Copies of the resolutions are posted in the Sip and Chat area long with signature sheets if you would like to sign on in support of the resolutions.

We celebrate with the following as they complete their studies and graduate:

Contemplative worship survey-- The elders are exploring the congregation's interest in holding weekly contemplative prayer and worship meetings.  We'd also like to gauge interest in sharing a simple meal together on Wednesday evenings. If you would participate in either or both a shared meal and contemplative prayer and worship service on Wednesday evenings, please indicate this on the sign-up sheet in the sip and chat area.

School Kits:  Have you committed to a job during the upcoming Iowa Mennonite relief sale?  The school kit booth needs workers of all kinds, managing to helping.  Young people could do any of the jobs. All supplies have been purchased in advance – see the sign up sheet in the ‘sip and chat’ area.  Melinda Bricker

Children (and everyone else):  It is time once again to collect those pennies and loose change around the house for Penny Power 2008 for MCC.  $15 makes it possible to irrigate a half-acre plot where one family can raise enough food to last six months.  $30 pays for the necessary labor and materials needed to bring clean drinking water to three families.
